India – Rajouri, Jammu & Kashmir: Security forces have tightened the cordon and intensified search operations in the dense forests of Dori Maal and Gambhir Mughalan in Rajouri district as Operation Sheruwali continues to target suspected terrorists hiding in the rugged terrain.
The large-scale anti-terror operation, jointly conducted by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), is being regarded as one of the most significant counter-terror missions in the border district in recent times. The operation was launched following specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence and movement of suspected terrorists in the Manjakote sector’s forested belt.
Security forces have established a strong multi-layered cordon around the operation zone while carrying out extensive combing operations across the thick forests and difficult mountainous terrain. Advanced surveillance equipment, including drones, helicopters, thermal imaging systems, and sniffer dogs, has been deployed to track the movement of the militants and prevent any escape.
Officials said additional troops and logistical support have been rushed to the area, with security agencies maintaining a high state of alert. Search teams are systematically scanning suspected hideouts and forest routes as the operation enters its latest phase. Reports indicate that brief encounters and exchanges of fire have taken place during the operation, though security forces continue their efforts to neutralize the threat and dismantle terrorist infrastructure in the region.
The anti-terror operation has now continued for several days, with authorities determined to eliminate terrorist presence in the Rajouri-Poonch forest belt and strengthen security along the sensitive border region. Officials have reiterated that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure the success of the mission while safeguarding civilian areas nearby.
