India – New Delhi: India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki India on Thursday announced a price hike of up to Rs 30,000 across its vehicle lineup starting June 2026, citing mounting inflationary pressures and a persistently adverse cost environment.
In a regulatory filing, the automaker said the increase would apply across models in its portfolio, although the exact hike would vary depending on the vehicle.
The company stated that it had been trying to absorb rising input costs over the past few months through internal cost-reduction measures. However, it said the current inflationary environment and elevated commodity prices have made it necessary to pass on part of the burden to customers.
“For the past few months, the company has been making continuous efforts to mitigate the cost impact to the extent possible through cost reduction measures,” the filing noted. “With inflationary pressures now at elevated levels and the adverse cost environment persisting, the company has to pass on a portion of the increased costs to the market, while continuing to ensure that the impact on customers is kept to the minimum extent possible.”
Maruti Suzuki India currently sells a wide range of passenger vehicles in the domestic market, from the entry-level S-Presso to the premium Invicto utility vehicle. The company’s models are priced between Rs 3.49 lakh and Rs 28.7 lakh (ex-showroom).
Industry analysts say the latest move reflects growing pressure on automakers due to higher raw material and operational costs. In recent months, company executives had hinted at possible price revisions amid rising commodity prices and supply-side challenges.
Earlier this year, the automaker introduced a price protection scheme for customers whose vehicle deliveries were delayed due to production constraints. The company ended FY26 with nearly 1.9 lakh pending customer orders, including around 1.3 lakh units in the small-car segment that falls under the 18 per cent GST bracket.
The latest increase comes months after the company significantly reduced prices of several entry-level models following the implementation of GST 2.0 in September last year. At the time, prices of the S-Presso were reduced by up to Rs 1.29 lakh, while the Alto K10, Celerio and Wagon-R also saw substantial price cuts aimed at boosting affordability in the mass-market segment.
